VPS Server Comparison 2026

Compare virtual private servers from multiple German providers. All prices updated daily, sorted by cost - not commission.

What is a VPS?

A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is your own virtual server with guaranteed resources – root access included. Unlike shared hosting, you share the hardware with other users, but CPU, RAM, and storage are reserved for you. Perfect for websites, databases, Docker containers, or self-hosting projects like n8n, Nextcloud, or Paperless-ngx.

Why This VPS Comparison is Different

Most comparison sites sort by commission – we don't. Our VPS server comparison always shows you the cheapest offers first, regardless of whether we receive an affiliate commission. Plus, you see real community reviews instead of marketing promises. Find the VPS that fits your budget and requirements in minutes – from Hetzner to Contabo to IONOS.

What to look for in a VPS comparison

A VPS comparison can quickly become overwhelming. Dozens of providers, hundreds of plans, and different specs. Here are the key criteria that help you pick the right server for your project.

vCPU vs dedicated core: what's the difference?

Most VPS providers give you vCPUs (virtual CPU cores). These are shared with other customers on the same hardware, so performance can fluctuate when your "neighbors" run heavy workloads.

Dedicated cores are exclusively assigned to you. Hetzner's CPX line offers dedicated AMD EPYC cores with consistent performance. For sustained CPU loads (e.g. transcoding or machine learning), the extra cost can be worth it.

Rule of thumb: vCPUs are fine for websites and APIs. For sustained heavy workloads, choose dedicated cores.

Why we sort by price

Most comparison sites sort by affiliate commission. That means the provider who pays the most appears first, regardless of whether it's the best option for you.

RackDiff does it differently. We always sort by price ascending. You see the cheapest offers that match your filters first. Yes, we use affiliate links for some providers — but that never changes the order.

We also show community reviews from public sources (e.g. Trustpilot) so you can quickly see how other users rate each provider — transparent and unfiltered.

Hetzner vs Contabo vs Netcup & more: quick comparison

Six popular providers at a glance to help you compare price, support, and flexibility.
